State of the Nation

So, did anyone else watch President Obama's address last night? Noah and I are always hugely entertained by who stands up and who doesn't, what they stand up for, etc. We were pretty blown away by the response he got on both sides of the aisle when he began talking about health care reform but I suppose everyone agrees that the system doesn't work...they just disagree on how to fix it. Still very entertaining!!! Nancy Pelosi was the most excited that I have ever seen her during one of these speeches.
Noah and I both got the sense that this is a President who really wants to get things done and, although, there are many who are saying that he is too ambitious, that he has just given us a laundry list to throw in his face I really admire his determination to turn this crisis into a positive. Loved the guests that he chose to invite especially the banker who gave back his $60,000 bonus. Too bad we didn't see more of that, eh?

I didn't see the speech, but I did hear a lot of commentary afterward. Ironically, I spent most of the following day working on putting together cost estimates for a project related to selling a pharmaceutical... a really pointless, frivolous project. It was a little surreal to be hearing commentary all day about reducing the ludicrous price of healthcare, while at the same time be actively contributing to one of the primary causes.

I very much wanted to just say to our client: "This project is a complete waste of money. It offends me as a healthcare consumer that you'd even consider spending money this way. Don't do it."
